Literacy and Technology

Literacy is the basis of technology. While co-teaching a technolgy lesson yesterday, the reality of that fact hit home. If someone cannot read or write, how can they communicate through technology? All of the digital communication equipment in the world does our students no good if they have lack literacy skills. Despite videostreaming, mp3s, MPEG videos, and HTML, the web is still a text-based form of communication. Look at our blogs, IMs, e-mails, documents, and websites; practically everything we do with technology is dependant on our ability to read and write.
